Two families of glass, organised by where they go.
ARG processes Saint-Gobain glass into two families: architectural glass for the building envelope — toughened, insulated (DGU) and laminated — and interior glass for partitions, wardrobes and wall cladding.
Architectural Glass
Glass for the building envelope — the panes that carry load, keep heat out and hold together when they break.

Toughened Glass
Toughened glass is float glass heated and rapidly cooled so it is stronger and breaks into blunt granules. ARG toughens clear glass from 4 mm to 19 mm, and coated glass, as a single pane.

Insulated Glass (DGU)
An insulated glass unit, or DGU, is two glass panes separated by a sealed gap of air or argon. ARG builds them in-house from Saint-Gobain clear and coated glass.

Laminated Glass
Laminated glass is two glass panes sandwiched around an interlayer and bonded under heat and pressure. ARG makes it in many combinations, choosing from six interlayers including PVB, SGP and Sentry, with Kuraray as the brand.
Interior Glass
Glass for the inside of a building — partitions, wardrobes, wall cladding and joinery, where the pane is the finish.

Designer Glass
Designer glass is decorative interior glass made to a project's own brief rather than picked from a range. ARG states that its designer glass is fully custom-made.

Fabric & Textured Glass
Fabric glass and textured glass are decorative interior glasses. ARG holds 1,000+ fabrics in stock and has delivered 100+ fabric glass projects; its textured glass comes in many textures, shapes, sizes and thicknesses.

Lacquered Glass
Lacquered glass, also known as back-painted glass, is glass with an opaque colour coating on its back face, so the colour is viewed through the pane. ARG supplies it in many colours for interiors.

Tinted Glass
Tinted glass is glass supplied in a colour rather than clear. ARG offers tinted glass in a range of tints; the specific tints are not published here, so ask us which are currently available.

Satin-Finished Glass
Satin-finished glass is glass whose surface is treated to a uniform matte finish, so it passes light but not a clear image. ARG also calls it matte-finished glass and supplies it within the interior glass range.

Cast Glass
Cast glass is glass with a texture formed into its surface. ARG imports it to order on a 45-day lead time, in a standard 4 ft by 10 ft size, and cuts it only on a water jet.
