Interior Glass

Fluted glass

Fluted glass is textured glass with parallel ribs worked into one face, so it passes light and softens the view through it. ARG's 2025-26 catalogue photographs five flutes: Brown Fluted, Masterline Flute, Clear Flute, Serene Flute and Grey Flute.

What is fluted glass?

Fluted glass is textured glass whose pattern is a run of parallel ribs worked into one face of the pane. Each rib acts as a narrow lens, so the pane bends the light passing through it and what is behind it reads as a soft, striped blur rather than a clear view. The trade also calls it reeded or ribbed glass. That is the general description of the category.

ARG lists fluted glass inside its textured range, which comes in multiple different textures, shapes, sizes and thicknesses. The pitch of the ribs, the shapes the panes are cut to, the sizes and the thicknesses available are confirmed per enquiry rather than fixed here.

Which flutes are on this page?

The five ARG photographed for its 2025-26 textured glass catalogue, on the same studio set as the fabric library: Brown Fluted, Masterline Flute, Clear Flute, Serene Flute and Grey Flute. In the photographs, Brown Fluted and Grey Flute carry a tint and the other three are clear. Each tile above opens at full size. The catalogue prints its own caveat under every one, and it stands here too: the photograph is a creative depiction, and the product may vary from it.

Can it be tinted, laminated or insulated?

ARG’s catalogue states that its textured glass is available in multiple thicknesses and can be customised as a DGU or a laminate, or enhanced with fabrics, metal meshes and coloured tints. A tinted flute for a study partition, a laminated flute for a door, an insulated flute for an external opening: what the drawing needs is settled against the drawing.

Where does fluted glass get used?

Fluted glass is generally specified where an interior wants light through a plane without a clear view through it: a partition between a study and a living room, a door or a wardrobe shutter, a cabinet front, a shower screen, a balustrade infill. ARG’s catalogue names partitions, doors and decorative applications for its textured range.

That is a general statement about how the category is used. It is not a list of jobs we have done, and this page names no client and no project.

What ARG needs from you to quote

Final panel sizes in millimetres and the number of panels. The flute, by its name above or a reference of the look you are matching. Which way the ribs run. Whether the pane is single, laminated or an insulated unit. Any tint. Any cut-outs, holes or edge conditions, with their positions. And where the panel sits and how it is fixed. If none of that is settled yet, send the drawing or the reference image on WhatsApp and we will come back with the build-up.

Common questions

What is fluted glass?

In general industry terms, fluted glass is glass with a run of parallel ribs worked into one face of the pane. The ribs bend the light, so the pane reads as a soft, striped blur rather than a clear view. It is also called reeded or ribbed glass.

Which flutes does ARG make?

The five in ARG's 2025-26 textured glass catalogue are on this page: Brown Fluted, Masterline Flute, Clear Flute, Serene Flute and Grey Flute. ARG describes its textured range as many textures, shapes, sizes and thicknesses, so ask us if the flute you want is not here.

Can fluted glass be tinted, laminated or made into an insulated unit?

ARG's catalogue states that its textured glass is available in multiple thicknesses and can be customised as a DGU or a laminate, or enhanced with fabrics, metal meshes and coloured tints. Which of those suits the opening is settled against the drawing.

Which way do the ribs run?

Vertical in a partition or a door is the usual choice. The pane is cut to the drawing, so the ribs run whichever way the drawing asks.
